BIO: Manically devoted to the indie rock/pop
genre and truly obsessed with the NYC scene since he was a teenager
living in Italy, Mr. Grieves has recently settled in the Big Apple after
5 years in London (U.K.). While in the UK, he developed and refined
his skills as a sound/mixing engineer, collaborating with producer Charlie
Francis (R.E.M, High Llamas, Turin Brakes, Minus 5) and working on several
independent projects and one major indie-pop hit ("Maybe You've
Been Brainwashed Too," New Radicals, Universal). Mr Grieves is
always looking for quality, edgy, indie rock/pop bands with innovative
sounds, songs, and haircuts.
PHILOSOPHY:
Some producers and sound engineers call themselves "analog
freaks". I'm NOT one of them. I love digital for a simple reason:
it seems like all the edgy and truly creative indie artists I like to
work with never have a decent budget. Digital recording allows any band
or individual to make great sounding records without spending a fortune,
and it lets me work in a space as confortable as my home - which allows
me to charge less (but I do rent real studios for recording drums and
loud guitars). My mission is to help bands and songwriters reach their
artistic goals within their budget. Even though I recorded and mixed
tracks that ended up on major labels and produced songs that were broadcast
on commercial TV programs, I consider myself as an independent producer
- or a "producer of independent artists". I put my expertise
at the artist's service, selflessly.
